The journey goes over the High Atlas and over the 2260m high Tizi-n-Tichka Pass with an overwhelming view. The steep road, lined with oak forests and nut trees, leads past the mud and stone houses of the Berber villages and rushing mountain streams. When the pass is crossed, the steep road descends into the almost lunar-like landscape of the Anti-Atlas and we reach Quartzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco (visit Kasbah Taorit), proceed to the Draa Valley. From the waters of the High Atlas has formed an elongated oasis, the Draà Valley, stretching from Ouarzazate to Mhamid. The most beautiful part of the oasis with millions of date palms stretches from Agdz to Zagora.
At the end of the Draa Valley we reach Mhamid, a small village and starting point for the drive to the Sahara. We reach our bivouac in the dunes of Mhamid; enjoy the sunset on the backs of dromedaries and a typical dinner with nomadic romance. Overnight in desert bivouac.
After breakfast in our desert bivouac, we head north through the Draa Valley. Via Zagora and Ouarzazate we finally reach Ait Benhaddou, a kasbah built of mud bricks. This, protected as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is considered the most beautiful and most famous Kasbah in Morocco and served as a backdrop for films such as 'Lawrence of Arabia', 'Jesus of Nazareth' or 'Gladiator'. After visiting the Kasbah we cross the High Atlas and come back to Marrakech in the evening.
