How much does a Sahara tour cost?

It is the first question almost everyone asks and the hardest one to answer in a single figure, because a desert trip is not one product. A night at the dunes and a ten-day crossing of the south are the same desert but not the same tour. Here is what our own trips actually cost, what is inside the price, and the handful of things that move it up or down.

The short answer

Our tours run from €100 for a one-night trip to €1150 for a ten-day grand arc, and each price is valid from 4 persons. Prices are in euros per booking, and every trip includes the travelling, by 4×4 or camel, together with the hotel and bivouac nights. The most common booking, a two- to four-day trip with one or two nights under canvas, sits between roughly €175 and €250 from 4 persons.

What the price covers

Every figure above is valid from 4 persons and covers the transport, a 4×4, camels, or both, and your nights, mixing hotels at the start and end with bivouac camps in the desert. That is the frame we quote on. What sits inside a particular itinerary varies, so it is always worth asking us exactly what a given trip includes before you book: the answer will be specific to the route and the season.

What moves the price

Four things decide where a trip lands on that range:

  • Length. This is by far the biggest factor. Doubling the days does not double the price, because transport and the long approach are shared, but a ten-day arc is still in a different band from a two-day one.
  • The route. A trip that reaches deep into the desert, like the dunes at Erg Chegaga, costs more than one that stays at the edge of the Draa, because of distance, fuel and the extra camping.
  • The season. Demand peaks in spring and autumn. Morocco received a record 17.4 million visitors in 2024 and 19.8 million in 2025, and the desert circuit is busiest in the same mild months everyone wants, which is one reason booking early matters.
  • Private versus shared. A private 4×4 for your own group is a different cost from joining a shared departure, and camp comfort ranges from a simple bivouac to a more built-up camp. Our listed prices are private departures valid from 4 persons.

Two examples

Take two ends of the catalogue. Our two-day bivouac night at Erg Chegaga is €175 from 4 persons, one night in the dunes, the drive out and back, the full desert evening. At the other end, our full Morocco arc in ten days is €1150 from 4 persons, the longest journey we run. In between, our four-day camel route across the hamada and erg is €250, and the five-day crossing of the High Atlas to Erg Chegaga is €490.

Paying in Morocco

Prices on our tours are quoted in euros, which keeps things simple if you are coming from Europe. On the ground the local currency is the Moroccan dirham, and it is a managed currency, held within a band weighted mostly toward the euro and the US dollar, so exchange rates tend to move less than you might expect. For day-to-day spending in Zagora and M'Hamid, it still makes sense to carry some dirhams in cash, because not every small shop or stall takes a card.

How to get the best value

Three practical points. Travel in the shoulder weeks just either side of the peak, early October or late March, for the same weather at a calmer price. Ask what is included before you commit, so there are no surprises at the camp. And if your dates are flexible, tell us: on a route like the camel and 4×4 tours there is usually a departure that fits better than the one you first picked. Start with the length you have, and we will quote from there.
